Less than an hour north of Auckland, Matakana Village is well known for its Saturday farmers’ markets, its beaches and vineyards. Creative and innovative people live here: artists and musicians, artisan food producers and winemakers.

There are exceptional food and wine options, a wide range of vintage shops, boutiques and galleries, and a beautiful coastline with walks and regional parks to explore.

In this environment, we offer a five-day programme of creative courses held during the second week of May each year, with shorter workshops also available. Participants learn from talented tutors, exchange ideas and techniques, meet people with diverse interests, and discover Matakana and its beautiful surroundings. Extra events are scheduled too, including a welcome function, participant’s dinners and open artist's studios.

A huge thank you...

We're extremely grateful to our wonderful local volunteers, without whom Creative Matakana just couldn’t happen.
They host workshops in their own homes or barns, drive tutors around, cook for participants
and help organise the whole thing – and we are hugely grateful to them.

We’d also like to thank the local companies below who are helping us out in 2019.
They have been exceptionally generous in providing food, drink, venues and time, and we'd love you to know how great they are.

Please support them whenever you can!
